Annual Meeting and Symposium

The Society for German-American Studies holds an Annual Meeting and Symposium, usually in late spring. A distinguishing feature of the SGAS Symposium is that it is held in locations that are particularly significant to the history of the German element in North America. This presents conference attendees with the opportunity not only to participate in the exchange of scholarship, but also to experience German-American heritage sites first hand.

In addition to scholarly presentations, other business of the Society is conducted at the Annual Business Meeting during the Symposium. Officers present annual reports to the general membership, elections are held when officer terms expire, and awards are presented for outstanding achievement in the field of German-American Studies.

The 36th Annual Symposium of the Society for German-American Stuides will take place April 12-14, 2012, at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.
